Your tradition
Bring your own tradition
You do not have to explain it, defend it or leave it at the door. It is part of how you make sense of your life, so it is welcome in the room.
Kizzy is a licensed counselor, not a minister, teacher or guide. She is curious about what your tradition means to you in your own words, and she will not tell you what it ought to mean.

Whatever you bring
A few ways people arrive
Most people are one or two of these, or all of them in turn.
One you grew up in
A church, synagogue, mosque, temple or meeting house, with the comfort and the weight it carries.
One you chose
A path you came to as an adult, perhaps one your family does not share.
More than one
Two traditions in one home, or a practice that borrows from several.
One you left
Leaving can leave grief, relief and anger together. All of it can be said here.
A practice without a name
Walks, silence, gardens, music or a nightly pause that is yours alone.
None, and fine with that
You can come to talk about your life without ever mentioning belief.
The ground rules
Where counseling ends and spiritual direction begins
- 01
This is therapy
The work is counseling by a licensed counselor: understanding your thoughts, feelings and relationships. It is not worship, ritual or teaching.
- 02
No prayer, no doctrine
Kizzy does not pray with you, teach a religion or recommend one. If a practice from your tradition helps you, you can talk about it.
- 03
Her beliefs stay out
If you ask what she believes, she answers briefly and returns to you. It is your hour.
- 04
Your guide stays yours
Therapy does not replace your clergy, teacher or elder. With your written permission, Kizzy can talk with them.
Questions about faith and counseling
Do I need to be religious?
No. People come with a faith, with several, with questions, or with none. You do not need to believe anything, and you will not be asked to.
Will you pray with me, or teach me a practice?
No. Kizzy is a licensed counselor, and the work is counseling, not worship or spiritual direction. If a practice from your own tradition helps you, you can talk about it, and she will help you think about how it fits your life.
Wondering if this is a fit?
Write to us, or book a 15-minute call about fit. It is a conversation, not therapy, an evaluation or an assessment.
